loudener

i speak to this machine
translating shy words into epic tales
a voice forcing all eardrums to vibrate
until this loudener is no more, i will be heard

lean

inebriated structure, staggers, stumbles
occupants rattle about and collide with their belongings
without a good grip, neighbors slide through open windows
i wave and wish them a good flight

embrace

arms extend, longing to hold
lonely hands portray a need to be held
tired arms are left to starve
awaiting an embrace, starving arms crumble

walk on water

i, jeebus, shall walk upon thee, oh great sea
you let me slip into crevices between h2o molecules
flailing limbs try to tread thee to keep head dry
failing limbs go limp, water balloon lungs

sliver

how long did you sit and wait before
you punctured sock and skin
how far will you lodge yourself before
i remove you from my body

slide

before i slide down, i look as far as i can
self acclaimed king of the world gazes down from the peak
go down as fast as i can, leave my throne behind
back on the ground, looking up at what i used to be

slippers

wake up and put on your comfy slippers
you like that they keep your feet warm
you wont stub your toe on the doorway anymore
get the newspaper, get funny looks from the neighbors

baptism

dip your child in a holy stew,
may your religion carry on
tell them the story your parents told you,
may you one day be proud of this monster

heavy thoughts

think you can rest your brain?
open your hand and support your head?
muscles strain to support heavy thoughts
arm bones buckle and drop the problem
