slide

before i slide down, i look as far as i can
self acclaimed king of the world gazes down from the peak
go down as fast as i can, leave my throne behind
back on the ground, looking up at what i used to be

slippers

wake up and put on your comfy slippers
you like that they keep your feet warm
you wont stub your toe on the doorway anymore
get the newspaper, get funny looks from the neighbors

baptism

dip your child in a holy stew,
may your religion carry on
tell them the story your parents told you,
may you one day be proud of this monster

heavy thoughts

think you can rest your brain?
open your hand and support your head?
muscles strain to support heavy thoughts
arm bones buckle and drop the problem
